Proper use and maintenance of fine leather product.
1. Before putting and removing, the shoes should be unlaced or undone, depending on the type of footwear and of the fastening.
2. To prevent premature rubbings on any part of the feet, the deformation on the upper of the shoe and the wear and tear of the insole, the footwear should be properly laced and fastened by Velcro or other ways.
3. A shoe-horn should be always used to put the shoes on. While taking them off, laces, Velcro, and straps should be undone.
4. As much as possible, you should avoid getting your shoes soaked. Leather is a naturally permeable material. No other natural material guarantees excellent hygiene as leather, it breathes but its non uniform texture allows as well, water to pass through, in and out
5. Dirty footwear should be clean with a slightly dump cotton cloth or a natural sponge. Then they can be dried and treated
6. Of extreme importance is to dry your soaked footwear at room temperature for about 18 hours. Do not use hairdryers, heaters; do not place them close to any source of heat as radiators.
7. Once dry, apply a small amount of cream or wax especially for shoes, preferably into the closest color of the footwear.
8. As each leather is different, choose carefully the right brush, cream or paste.
9. For daily maintenance it is not recommended to use instant shine sprays or sponges, as these could severely damage the first layer of the leather.
10. Every time before, applying paste or cream, the footwear should be throughly cleaned with a dump cotton cloth or a sponge. Only then apply a thin layer of cream or paste, and once dry, 5-10 minutes, the paste or cream should be gently brushed to a shine
11. Footwear made out of suede or velvet should be cleaned only with a special brush, a lightly dump cloth or by special products available on the market.
12. To clean footwear made of fury leather, gently brush off with a soft brush.
13. Although there are products which can protect from the great harm of low temperature, shoes made of varnished leather, better is, if those shoes are not exposed at all, to very low temperature.
14. In order to prevent footwear’s deformation, while not wearing them, insert shoe trees.
15. As the upper and the boot leg are not resistant to moisture, so are leather soles, which, as well go through a lot of wear and need to be resoled at least in the front part of the bottom sole.
16. For the comfort of walking and to have unscratched and pealed heels, the heels’ tips should be regularly checked and if needed replaced.
